MATERIALS NEEDED
  • Worsted Weight Yarn in 4 colors - MC, CA, CB, CC
  • Crochet Hook Size H (5mm)
  • Stitch markers
POSSIBLE OTHER SUPPLIES
  • Tapestry needle
  • scissorS
STITCHES USED
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • tr – triple crochet
  • bpsc – back post single crochet
  • tr fan – 2tr, ch1, 2 tr in same stitch or space

SQUARE INFORMATION
Gauge: After round 1 piece is 2.5 inches wide
Terms Used: American

DIRECTIONS

Round 1: With MC ch5, 19tr in 5th ch from hook. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch5. 20Tr

Round 2: ch4, tr, ch1, 2tr in same st as joining. *sk 1 st, tr fan in next st* 9 times, sk 1 st. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch4. Fasten off MC. 40tr, 10 ch1 sp

Round 3: With CA join with a sc in any skipped st from rnd 1. *ch10, sc in next skipped st from rnd 1* 9 times* ch10, join with a sl st to 1st sc. Finish of CA. 10sc, 10 ch10 sp

Round 4: With CB join with a sl st in any ch1 sp from rnd2 – MAKING SURE you enclose the ch10 from rnd 3- ch3, 4dc in same sp, (sc in between the tr fans of rnd 2 skipping the 3rd, 4th, 1st, & 2nd st of tr fans, 5dc in next ch1 sp* 9 times then ( ) once. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish off CB. 50Dc, 10sc

Round 5: With CC join with a sl st in any sc from rnd 4, ch3, 6dc in same st as joining. *(sk 2 sts, bpsc in next st should be middle dc of the 5dc group from rnd4, sk 2 sts), 7dc in next st* 9 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish off CC. 70dc, 10 bpsc

Round 6: With MC join with a bpsc in any 4th st of a 7dc group, bpsc in each st around. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. 80bpsc You can work sc instead of bpsc for this round as it won't make much of a difference.

Round 7: ch3, dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st*dc in next 7 sts, 2dc in next st* 9 times, dc in next 3 sts. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. 90 dc

Round 8: ch2, hdc in same st, *(hd in next 8 sts), 2hdc in next st* 9 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch2. 100Hdc

Round 9: ch4, tr, ch2, 2 tr in same st, *(tr next 2 sts, dc next 2 sts, hdc next 4 sts, sc next 8 sts, hdc next 4 ssts, dc next 2 sts, tr next 2 sts), 2tr, ch2, 2tr in next st* 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch4. 24tr, 16dc, 24hdc, 32sc

Round 10: ch3, dc next st, *(2dc, ch2, 2dc in ch2 sp), dc next 28 sts* 3 times, then ( ) once, dc next 26 sts. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish off MC. 128Dc

Round 11: With CA join with a sl st in any corner ch2 sp, dc, ch2, 2dc in same sp. *(dc next 32 sts) 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch2 sp* 3 times, then ( ) once. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3. Finish off CA. 144dc
