MATERIALS NEEDED

  • Worsted Weight Yarn in 2 colors - CA, CB
  • Crochet Hook Size H (5mm)
  • At least 4 removable Stitch markers

STITCHES USED

  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • dc – double crochet
  • tr – triple crochet
  • fphdc - front post half double crochet
  • fpdc – frost post double crochet
  • fptr – front post triple crochet
  • fpdtr – front post double triple crochet
SQUARE INFORMATION
Gauge: After round 1 piece is 1 inch wide.
Terms Used: American

DIRECTIONS

ROUND 1: With CA ch4, 2dc in 4th ch from nook, ch 2 * 3dc in same ch, ch3 * 3 times. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch4. Finish Off. 12Dc, 4 ch2 sp

ROUND 2: With CB join in any ch2 sp with a sc, * (fpdc in next st, ch3, sk next st, fpdc in next st), sc in ch2 sp * 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. Finish Off. 8Fpdc, 4sc

ROUND 3: With CA join in any skipped st from rnd 2 the one you skipped when you did the ch3 KEEP THE CH IN THE BACK OF YOUR WORK with a sl st, ch3 counts as a dc, 2dc in same st, * (ch1, fpdc in next 2 fpdc from previous rnd you will be skipping the sc from the previous rnd), ch1, 5dc in skipped st from rnd 2 the one you skipped when you did the ch3 KEEP THE CH IN THE BACK OF YOUR WORK , ch1* 3 times then ( ) once more, 2dc in same st you did the beg ch3 in. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch3. 20Dc, 8fpdc, 8ch1 sp

ROUND 4: Ch3 counts as a dc, 2dc in same st as joining, dc in next 2 sts, * (ch1, sk ch1 sp from rnd 3, dc in next 2 sts should be the fpdc from rnd 3, ch1, sk ch1 sp from rnd 3, dc in next 2 sts), 3 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, ch1 * 3 times, ( ) oince more, dc in next 2 sts. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch 3. Finish Off. 36Dc, 8 ch1 sps


Round 5

ROUND 5: You will NOT be skipping any stitches in this round that would correspond with the fptr With CB join with a sc in a ch1 sp after the 7dc, * sc in next st, fptr around BOTH fpdc from rnd 2, sc in next st, sc in next ch1 sp, sc in next 7 sts * 3 times then ( ) once.. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. Finish Off. 44Sc, 4fptr

ROUND 6: With CA join in same st that you sl st to in rnd 5, ch3 counts as a dc, tr in next st, * (2tr, ch1, 2tr in next st, tr in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts) , dc in next st, tr in next st 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st in top of beg ch3. Finish Off. 24Tr, 8dc, 16hdc, 12sc


Round 7

ROUND 7: NOTE: There will be 2 fptr worked around the same fptr of round 5. With CB join in any ch1 sp with a sc, 2sc in same sp, * (sc in next 4 sts, fptr around fptr from rnd 5 you will skip the next st which should be the hdc by the dc from rnd 6, hdc in next 5 sts, fptr around fptr from rnd 5 you will skip the next st which should be the hdc by the dc from rnd 6, sc in next 4 sts), 3sc in next ch1 sp 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. 8Fptr, 20hdc, 44sc


Round 8

ROUND 8: The fpdtr is part of the corner – instead of 3sc for the corner you will have a sc, fpdtr, sc. Ch1, sc in same st as joining, sc in next * fpdtr around fptr from rnd 5, sc in same as last sc made, sc in next 5 sts, fphdc around fptr from rnd 7, sc in next 5 sts, fphdc around fptr from rnd 7*, sc in next 5 sts 4 times, omitting the last sc. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. Finish Off. 68 sc, 8fphdc, 4fpdtr

ROUND 9: With CA join in any fpdtr with a sl st, ch2 counts as a hdc, 2hdc in same as joining, * sc in next 19 sts, 3hdc in next st * 3 times, hdc in next 19 sts. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch2. Finish Off. 76Sc, 12hdc
